Walden Chapter 1, allotment 2
This is a response to pshapiro's Walden Ch1a.mov www.youtube.com where he synchronized images of the 1st chapter of Thoreau's Walden (part 1) with its reading by G. Mackenzie for librivox.org (see librivox.org ). So I decided to do the same for part 2 of chapter 1, but with a variant: instead of synchronizing images of the page with the audio, I'll let YouTube autocaptioning software do the synching of a text file excerpted from the Gutenberg project version of Walden (downloadable in several formats from www.gutenberg.org ). This video is in the public domain and can be downloaded from www.archive.org . So are its captions, which can be downloaded in several formats from www.universalsubtitles.org Therefore I cannot use the YouTube pseudo Creative Commons license, because Creative Commons licenses are copyright licenses, and works in the public domain cannot be put under a copyright license. But of course, you are free to reuse and remix it, without having to give credit to anyone, though it would be polite to do so for G. MacKenzie's splendid reading. Let's hope YouTube soon starts offering proper Creative Commons licensing, with all available choices, links leading to the genuine Common Deed which in turn links to the legal code of the license. And an option to certify that a video is in the public domain. Bushnell Rangefinder Immediately Rusk Shears Reviews Save Energizer Industrial Batteries
